Are you an experienced, HANDS-ON software engineering leader, capable of defining, articulating and executing technology strategy from venture launch to scale?
DROP Bio is a pre-launch direct-to-consumer health information venture. Our vision is to use the predictive information in blood and machine learning to improve individual health, prevent disease and dramatically accelerate the global pace of research. We also plan to become the world’s trusted source of personal blood-based information.
Working with the CEO, this is a superb chance to create and craft a product, team, and company culture, as one of the first team members.
You will be responsible for setting security policies, leading DevOps, and facilitating architectural decisions with specialists in distributed teams. This includes hiring, mentoring and growing our team as necessary.
You enjoy learning and collaborating effectively with scientists, marketers and bioinformatics specialists and think about technology management as it relates to business objectives, architecture, infrastructure performance, and team allocation.
You are also experienced in agile development methodologies for new products and understand how scalability should be built into products.

Develop architecture strategy and technology roadmaps with the leadership team to identify risks and opportunities
Define and run the technology priorities for defined module scope working closely with other engineers
Provide hands-on technical leadership to the engineering team and define tech stack
Hands-on development of one or more modules of a product/solution and peer review of team member’s code
Own sprint planning and lead the releases for assigned modules
Accountable for design and code for the assigned modules across sprints
Ensure consistent high standards, processes, and procedures for software development, quality assurance, data privacy, and maintenance
7+ years experience architecting and building products from pre-launch through scale including:
Working on large (B2B and or B2C) software products as a senior/lead member of the software engineering team at startups/SMEs/spin-offs
Sustained systems engineering experience specifically diverse computing protocols, security, high-performance systems, and distributed technologies
Working with full stack technologies including experience with web, scripting and low-level system coding
Experience building and leading engineering teams of 5-10 people
Experience working with Apple Health Kit (and knowledge of ResearchKit and CareKit) and Google Fit is desireable
Deep experience with AWS is essential
Highly detail oriented and well organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced understanding of the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) specification
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
Previous experience within biotechnology is highly desirable
Includes but is not limited to Elixir Phoenix, Ruby, Node.js, React, AWS, Heroku. Knowledge of Random Forest, SVM and ANN for machine learning is desirable.
